Deron Williams: Nets Guard Explodes For 57 Points In Win Over Bobcats
Arguably the only bright spot for the 12-26 New Jersey Nets has been the play of point guard and leader Deron Williams. Coming into Sunday’s game against the statistically worse Charlotte Bobcats (4-30 prior), Williams was averaging 21.7 points and 8.3 assists per game, with five 30+ point outings.
Sunday night Williams went off in a major way, dropping 56 points in a 101-96 victory in Charlotte over the Bobcats. He had to be pushed by a motivation that even if his Nets are going to be a bad team, he won’t let them lose to the worst squad out there in the League.
Williams shot 16-29 from the field and shot a perfect 21-21 from the free throw line. He also managed to throw seven assists to teammates in there. Even with his Herculean effort, New Jersey was just barely able to avoid giving Charlotte its fifth win of the season, winning 104-101.
