Allen Iverson: Indoor Soccer Team Offers The Former NBA Guard A Contract
Former NBA all-star Allen Iverson just recently came out expressing his strong desire to return to the NBA, even saying he’d be willing to join an NBDL team to get there. Major Indoor Soccer League team, the Rochester Lancers, must have heard wrong.
According to CBS Sports, the indoor soccer team offered Iverson a contract worth $20,000 per game, with bonuses that include $5,000 for every goal scored.
I highly doubt that Iverson would humble himself to the point of looking into a playing for a D-League team in order to get back into basketball, and then turn around and play in a soccer league. But it is an interesting move by the Lancers. Iverson was a star football player in high school, so he’s a proven overall athlete.
Iverson hasn’t played in the NBA since February 2010, but he hasn’t ever announced an official retirement. He has since played for Besiktas, a Turkish professional basketball team.
